Why I Created the Motherhood Event (And Why It’s Only One Day)

Most moms take thousands of photos. They capture the birthdays, the first days of school, the missing teeth, the messy kitchen moments, and the tiny ordinary things that end up becoming the best memories. Moms keep the story moving. They document it. They remember it.

But when you scroll back, you start to notice something. You’re not in the frame very often. Not in a consistent way. Maybe there’s a rushed selfie here and there. Maybe there’s a quick picture someone grabbed when you weren’t ready. Maybe there’s one photo you kind of like but never print because your brain starts nitpicking before your heart gets a chance.

Then time passes the way it always does. Quietly. Quickly. And one day, you realize you have a full timeline of your kids growing up, but almost no proof that you were right there with them. That you held them. That you were their safe place. That you were part of the everyday magic.

As a Minneapolis motherhood photographer, I’ve watched moms show up for everyone else in big ways and small ways, every single day. So I wanted to create something that simply says: I see you. I appreciate you. And you deserve to be in the photos too.

That’s exactly why I created this.

The Real Reason I Created the Motherhood Appreciation Event

This is not a “mini session day” I threw on the calendar just to fill a gap.

This is an appreciation event for moms.

It’s my way of giving back to the women who trust me with their memories. It’s also my way of creating a space where motherhood gets to be celebrated without anyone needing a “special reason” beyond the fact that you’re doing one of the most important jobs in the world.

Here’s the part I want to say clearly, because it matters.

If you’ve had a Signature Session with me in the last year, you’re invited to this event for a complimentary session and 5 free digital files. No catch. No weird strings. Just my genuine thank-you for choosing me and coming back into my world.  I usually have good snacks too.

And yes, other mamas are invited too.

Even if you haven’t worked with me before, you’re still welcome at this Motherhood Appreciation Event. Your session won’t be complimentary, but the heart behind the day stays the same. This event exists to celebrate moms. Full stop.

So if you’ve been searching for Motherhood photos in the Twin Cities and you want something that feels intentional, calm, and meaningful, this was built for you.

Why It’s Only One Day: May 3, 2026

This part matters, so I want to be super clear.

This is a one-day event because one day changes the entire experience.

One day makes it feel special. One day creates a shared energy. One day lets me prepare a studio setup that feels elevated and consistent for every mom who steps in front of my camera. It also keeps the day focused and thoughtful instead of spread thin.

This isn’t meant to feel rushed or impersonal. It’s not a revolving door. It’s curated, paced, and centered on connection.

Motherhood Appreciation Event | May 3, 2026

If you’ve been looking for a Motherhood photography event Minneapolis moms genuinely feel good about, this is it.

The mQn Experience

What the Motherhood Appreciation Event Actually Is

Let’s make this simple. Here’s what it looks like.

This is a studio setting with a simple, clean backdrop. The goal is timeless and distraction-free. Your connection gets to be the focus.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Studio portraits with a simple, clean look
  • Wardrobe available to make getting ready easier
  • Flexible pacing so kids can settle in
  • Kids of all ages welcome, from toddlers to teens
  • Gentle direction and prompts (no stiff posing)
  • A calm environment where you don’t have to manage everything perfectly

If your toddler melts down, it’s okay. If your kid needs breaks, it’s okay. If you feel nervous, that’s normal. I’ll guide you through it. I’ll keep things simple. And I’ll photograph the connection that’s already there.

Who This Event Is For

This is for the mom who’s always the one taking the photos.

This is for the mom with toddlers who feels like life is loud and messy and beautiful all at once.

This is for the mom of school-age kids who is in the thick of it and rarely pauses long enough to realize how much she’s holding.

This is for the mom of teens who can feel time moving faster than she wants it to.

This is also for the mom who doesn’t feel “ready.” If that’s you, I want you to hear this clearly. You do not need to change anything about yourself to deserve photos with your kids. You don’t need perfect timing. You don’t need perfect behavior. You don’t need to wait for a future version of life.

And if you’ve been searching for a Motherhood photo session May 3, this is a gentle way to finally do it.

A Few Quick FAQs

If I had a Signature Session, how do I know if I’m eligible for the complimentary session?

If you had a Signature Session with me in the last year, you’re included. When booking opens, I’ll make it simple to claim your complimentary spot.

What’s included for past Signature clients?

A complimentary session and 5 free digital files.

Can someone who hasn’t worked with you before attend?

Yes. You’re absolutely welcome. Your session isn’t complimentary, but this day is still designed as an appreciation event for moms.  You can get on the waitlist and any available spots will be allocated to grab what's available.

What if my kids won’t cooperate?

That’s okay. Kids don’t need to perform. I’ll guide you with prompts and keep things relaxed.  Just appreciate this stage you're in and try and grab them for a hug and just keep smiling.

About mQn Photography

A Gentle Invitation

This is your reminder that you deserve to be in the frame. Not someday. Not after things calm down. Not after you feel “ready.” Now.

Booking will open April 3rd. Booking opens early so you have time to plan without stress.

The Motherhood Appreciation Event takes place May 3, 2026.

If you’re a past Signature client, I cannot wait to celebrate you with a complimentary session and five free files. If you’re new here, I’d love to welcome you into this day too.

Because motherhood deserves to be documented. And moms deserve to be celebrated.

Michele is the photographer behind mQn Photography, a Minneapolis motherhood photographer with more than 15 years of experience documenting families, babies, and the in-between seasons that matter most. She photographs with a calm, steady approach and a sharp eye for connection—because the moments moms think are “too ordinary” often become the ones they miss the most.

Her work is known for clean, timeless imagery and a relaxed experience that doesn’t require kids to be perfectly behaved or moms to feel “ready.” Michele gently directs when needed, keeps the pace flexible, and creates a space where families can settle in and simply be together. Sessions can take place in her Northeast Minneapolis studio or on location around the Twin Cities, depending on what fits each family best.

The Motherhood Appreciation Event is especially close to Michele’s heart. It exists as a genuine thank-you to the moms who have trusted her with their memories while also welcoming new mamas who want Motherhood photos in the Twin Cities that feel meaningful, simple, and focused on what matters. On May 3, 2026, she’ll be photographing motherhood in a way that feels intentional and celebrated, because moms deserve to be in the frame too.
