My approach is gentle, honest, and intentional. Feedings, blowouts, big siblings who aren't so sure—it's all part of the story and part of the magic. I’ll guide you just enough and create space for the natural moments that matter most.

Step One: Discover Your Options: Considering a newborn session? You’ve got choices! Choose from cozy studio sessions, intimate in-home shoots, or the special Fresh 48 in the hospital. Whether in Minneapolis, St. Paul, or the Twin Cities, we’ll beautifully capture your moments. Explore our collective membership for savings and delightful perks. Reach out to learn more and let’s create something amazing together!
Step Two: Schedule Your Session: Ready to book? Choose a date and time from the booking link I'll send you. After that, you'll receive an agreement and a short questionnaire about your session. Once confirmed, your date is set! Leading up to your session, you'll get a few guides addressing FAQs, location, and what to wear. Your creative fee, due upon scheduling, is non-refundable. After your session, you'll view a slideshow of your images and can purchase a collection.
Step Three: Session Prep and Confirmation: I’ll reach out a few days before our session to confirm the details. If anyone is under the weather, we can reschedule. This is also the time for any last-minute questions. Our baby-led Signature sessions, usually lasting an hour or two, are relaxed and flexible. If you’re running late, just let me know. Most importantly, take a breath and enjoy this time with your baby while I capture these beautiful moments. It’s going to be a wonderful experience!
Step Four: Enjoy Your Photos: Within a couple of weeks after your session, you’ll get an email from me with your photo slideshow ready to view. You’ll have 24 hours to marvel at your images and choose which collection to purchase. After that, you have a whole month to select the digital files and print items for your collection—no pressure! If you prefer to see and feel album covers and paper types in person, I have samples at my studio and would love to set up a time for you to come by.

What should I / we wear ?: Michele, a reputable Minneapolis Studio Newborn Photographer, offers a luxurious studio wardrobe for your session, making it easy to coordinate outfits for your newborn photos. You'll have access to a curated selection of clothing, props, and accessories, ensuring that your shoot is timeless, stylish, and beautiful. The wardrobe contains dresses for moms, shirts for dads, items for children under 5, and also wraps and newborn knits. Michele will also send you a style guide to help you prepare. The wardrobe should be the least of your worries.
Will you pose my baby and use props?: Michele's newborn sessions are baby-led, which means that your baby will remain safe and comfortable in the studio or on location. She will never force your baby into unnatural poses, but will instead capture beautiful natural moments and expressions. Babies are beautiful as they are, they do not need to be made to look like animals or food.
Can siblings be included?: Of course! All family is invited to love on the baby. Toddlers may or may not want to participate and we will go at their pace and on their terms. I never insist a child pose with their newborn sibling if they do not want to. I do have special secret strategies to help though. Be it in the studio or in your home, I will make sure your family is part of the photo session.
How are Fresh 48 sessions different?: Fresh 48 sessions take place in the hospital before you’re discharged, typically within the first 24-48 hours after birth, hence the name. These sessions document the earliest moments with your baby—the hospital wristbands, tiny details, and first family snuggles. Unlike other newborn sessions done at home or in the studio later on, Fresh 48 captures that raw, fleeting “just born” feeling. Planning ahead is essential to make sure we don’t miss it.
