Twin Baby Photography Minneapolis: Capturing the Sweetest Sitter Milestone Session

There’s something truly magical about sitter sessions. If newborn photos are about the fragility of those early days, and first birthdays mark the celebration of a full year, the sitter milestone session is that perfect in-between stage. Babies at this age are full of personality, endless curiosity, and the cutest little wobbly postures you ever did see. And when it’s twin baby photography in Minneapolis—well, that just doubles the joy!

This August, I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming twin girls into my studio for their sitter session. I had photographed these sweet girls in the NICU the previous November, so seeing them now—sitting up, smiling, and showing off their distinct little personalities—was such a special moment. Their family opted for a petite milestone session, a quick yet meaningful way to document this beautiful phase of babyhood. And with my studio wardrobe taking the stress out of outfit planning, everything came together effortlessly.

Why the Sitter Milestone is My Favorite

Sitter sessions (typically done between 6-9 months) are hands-down one of my favorite milestones to capture. Why? Because it’s the epitome of babyhood. Gone are the fragile newborn days, but we haven’t quite reached the chaos of toddlerhood yet. Instead, we get this perfect, fleeting moment where babies are happily sitting, but not yet running away!

At this stage, babies are so full of expression—giggles, wide-eyed wonder, and those adorable toothless grins. They can engage with the camera, reach for their toes, clap their hands, and interact in the sweetest ways. For photographers, it’s a dream milestone because we can capture their pure joy and personality without worrying about them crawling off set every two seconds!

The Beauty of Twin Baby Photography in Minneapolis

Photographing one baby at this stage is fun, but photographing two? Twice the challenge, twice the patience, but also twice the reward! These twin girls were no exception. They were dressed in the most darling little matching floral smocked rompers from my studio wardrobe, perfectly complementing each other while still allowing their individual personalities to shine. Their rompers were from Rylee + Cru, a favorite brand known for timeless, vintage-inspired baby clothing.

One of the most delightful aspects of twin photography is watching the unspoken connection between them. Even without words, twins have this natural rhythm, a built-in best friend dynamic that makes for the most heart-melting images. Whether it’s holding hands, mirroring each other’s expressions, or exchanging curious glances, there’s something incredibly special about capturing their bond.
