Recap of the 2025 Motherhood Event – The Magic of Motherhood Captured

Motherhood deserves a standing ovation. And while I don’t have the budget for fireworks (yet), this year’s 2025 Motherhood Event came pretty close to feeling like a red carpet moment for the amazing women I’ve photographed over the past year. As a Minneapolis-based photographer who specializes in Motherhood Photography, I’ve always dreamed of creating an experience that feels more like a celebration than a photo session—and this event checked every box.

Whether you were one of the mamas who joined in on the fun, or you’re just here for a behind-the-scenes peek, let’s take a little walk down memory lane and relive the joy, laughter, snacks, sparkle, and all the pretty that made this event one of my favorite days of the year.

A Little Background (and a Lot of Heart)

The Motherhood Event is my way of saying thank you—big, loud, cookies-and-prosecco-style thank you—to the moms who booked a Signature Session with me the year before. It’s a complimentary session designed exclusively for those returning clients, but this year, I also opened up a few mini session spots for new families who wanted in on the fun. Spoiler alert: it was a hit.

This wasn’t just a regular photo day. It was styled to the nines, thoughtfully curated, and full of sweet little extras—because you deserve more than just a great portrait. You deserve an experience.

The Styling: Where Dreamy Meets Fuss-Free

Every mom who attended got full access to my studio wardrobe. That meant no stressful shopping trips, no digging through closets, and no “I have nothing to wear” panic the night before. From lace dresses to soft floral prints, every piece was chosen to feel timeless, flattering, and comfortable (because you should be able to twirl with your toddler and still feel like a queen).

Some of the little ones were also dressed from my client closet, while others rocked outfits brought from home—which worked perfectly. We’re not here to make things complicated. We’re here to make beautiful, heartfelt images and have fun doing it.

As always, the vibe was simple, clean, and classic. Whether moms opted for soft blues, gentle pinks, or creamy neutrals, the result was pure magic.

Studio Wardrobe

Flowers, Backdrops, and That Signature mQn Photography Touch

This year, I wanted to level up the sets just a bit, and if I may say so—mission accomplished. Now, in the spirit of full transparency: I didn’t actually arrange all those gorgeous flowers myself. I bought them pre-assembled like the busy, practical adult I am. But I did hang them up myself the first time—just to see if it would all come together. (Spoiler: it did. Barely. There may have been a too tall of ladder and a mild panic sweat involved.)

Thankfully, when it came time for the official install, I brought in the big guns—my 6'3" husband. Between the two of us, we got everything up and looking fabulous without me falling off anything or questioning my life choices.

We used both my white wall and the lime-washed blue backdrop in the studio to give families a soft, stunning variety. With floor florals, a dreamy hanging install, and cozy vintage seating, the whole setup was designed to make moms and kids feel relaxed, beautiful, and ready for their close-up—no props needed beyond the giggles, hugs, and occasional sibling pile-up.

Real Moms, Real Beauty

Some mamas came with their hair and makeup already done, and others opted to do their own thing. Either way, everyone looked amazing. While I don’t require professional HMUA services, I always recommend a local artist I trust, and I’m happy to share her contact info anytime—just ask! She knows how to make moms glow without going overboard, and she totally gets my style.

Whatever path they chose, these women showed up ready to love on their littles, and it showed in every frame.

The Extras: Because Moms Deserve the Good Stuff

Okay, yes—we took some gorgeous photos. But also? We had Crumbl cookies. And goodie bags. Because if you’re going to show up for a photo session, you deserve to leave feeling a little spoiled.

Each family left with one of those thick, four-bite, high-calorie, totally-worth-it Crumbl cookies. No one touched them before the session (we all know toddlers + frosting = chaos), but you better believe they went home happy.

Kids got a little gift, moms got a goodie bag, and everyone got to feel appreciated.

And for the moms, a little something extra: a personal-sized bottle of prosecco to take home. Not for popping in the parking lot, obviously—but maybe for later, once the house is quiet and she survived bedtime.

Joy, Connection, and So Much Laughter

It’s hard to explain just how much fun this day was. There were silly toddler moments, big belly laughs, snuggly sibling photos, and a few emotional tears (mine included).

More than anything, it felt like what I always want Motherhood Photography to be—lighthearted, honest, and meaningful.

These moms weren’t just posing for photos. They were enjoying time with their kids, being reminded of the beauty in their everyday chaos, and letting themselves be seen, celebrated, and appreciated. It’s an experience you’ll remember long after your hair’s been brushed out and the last snack has been eaten.
