Milestone photo sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph. Milestones usually mean 3 month, 6 month and 1 year! One year milestone birthday sessions are by far the most common followed up by 6 month photo sessions. Sitting milestone sessions are super adorable because babies just sit there and look cute. It doesn't get any easier than that. One year birthday milestones are super fun because those personalities really start shining through. Babies are sitting, they usually like crawling and sometimes that will stand with help from a chair or their parents. And they are usually still chubby and baby like. Once your baby starts walking they thin out and basically run from you at any chance you get so that one year milestone is kind of your last chance for an easy photo session. After that you just never know what you'll get. Ha ha!

I offer two types of milestone sessions for those birthdays. A petite milestone which focuses just on baby and perhaps any family images you might want. But I also offer a signature session which is when you can bring a cake and let baby have at it! I have been loving the cake smash sessions lately because they are so beautiful! I highly recommended using a Naked Cake so that we can create heirloom images. These cakes are by far my favorite for these sessions.

With this recent one year milestone cake smash session in my Northeast Minneapolis studio, mom brought in a beautiful naked cake. We added some greenery but baby didn't want anything on her cake so she immediately took it all off before diving in. With these signature session we are able to get lots of images of baby and family before the cake smash. Because once the cake is brought out, it's all downhill from there. But oh my gosh it's so much fun!
