Right before I went on vacation I headed to the NICU to get a session in before I left. This little guys was born at 28 weeks - 12 weeks early - after mom developed HELLP and had to have an urgent c-section. He has made steady progress since then though, growing from 2.01 pounds up to 3 pounds, 10 ounces, weaning from intubation to NAVA to C-pap to low-flow oxygen through nasal prongs. Next he'll start learning to feed from a bottle in the next few weeks (if he hasn't already) and then he will be one step closer to going home. I always wish the best for my NICU families. They have a hard struggle but sometimes they make it look so easy. I'm always in awe of their strength and honored to be witness to it.
